What do you think pal about enough is enough

Enough is Enough

Brian Cashman must go.....................................He is a terrible judge of pitching talent. He put all he eggs in one basket hoping Hughes and Kennedy would win 20 to 25 games together.Because that is what he did.By putting Hughes and Kennedy in the starting rotation he was expecting 20 to 30 starts from each.As of September 18 they have ZERO wins and not even 10 starts between them. Then he takes a dominate lights out relief pitcher and puts him in the starting rotation hoping to catch lighting in a bottle. He should be fired just for these two stupid things he did.

Who stays,Who goes

The way I see it, only 9 Yankees are sure to return in 2009. Chien Ming Wang,Joba Chamberlain,Damaso Marte,Mariano Rivera,Jose Molina,Jorge Posada,Derek Jeter,Alex Rodriguez, and Xavier Nady.Everyone else is trade bait. The Yankees must get younger. A good way to start is not to resign any of their Free Agents.Pettitte will be 38 and should retire.Mussina will be 40.Pavano will be 34,but he probably has the arm of a 24 because he has not pitched much in the last 3 years, plus he has a rebuilt arm. I-Rod will be 38,who is playing like he is 48. Giambi will be 39,enough said about him.Abreu will be 36 and does not like to get near outfield fences. By not signing these 6 players the Yankees free up 89 million dollars. Think about this for a second. If playing ss for the Yankees is such a prestige thing as is playing cf, Jeter should think about switching to cf.This will prolong his career and help the Yankees. He will be 35 next year, and he range is not the best anymore. This move will allow the Yankees to go out and sign a free agent ss such as Rafael Furcal, the best ss arm in baseball, and only 30 years old.Other free agents they should sign are Orlando Hudson for 2B, Cano will be traded in the winter. They should zero in on CC Sabathia, Jon Garland, and or John Lackey. The Yankees need some role players which they dont have. Now for some trades.......... How about Hughes, Cano, Cabrera,Bruney, and Romaine to the Giants for Matt Cain,Bengie Molina, and Randy Winn. A trade with Colorado for Matt Holliday, with Kennedy,Ramirez,Damon and Marques going to Colorado.Next go get ss Jack Wilson from Pittsburgh ,now we have some depth. You notice I did not mention Mark Teixeira. Stay away from him. Pour the money into pitching. They can plug Posada and Miranda into 1B. I also believe the will be some new coaches next year. I see Willie Randolph being named the bench coach with Tommy John or Rick Peterson the new pitching coach. Sandy Giacomini

Is it time to throw in the towel?

Do I think the Yankees will make the playoffs? I'm not entirely sure. The offense isn't hitting (as I write this they are leading Detroit 8-2 in the 2nd inning) and the pitching isn't pitching. Besides Xavier Nady, the moves Cashman made at the deadline haven't helped. Marte has been below average and Pudge is a shell of his former self. Their bullpen has been average for the most part.

It's September 1. Let's pray that they can put together a magical last month of the season and give the fans and Yankee Stadium something to remember.

The only way to save Yankee Stadium from the wrecking ball

The New York Football Giants and The New York Jets can save Yankee Stadium from the wrecking ball by playing some of their home games there. I propose the Giants and Jets each play four of their home games there. People who know the Real estate market should be talking to Donald Trump into buying the old stadium and putting a dome on it. It could then be used for a possible Super Bowl site. Do you realize how much money would be generated by a Super Bowl in the City? The Giants or Jets and the Donald can get this done.

Who will be the next Yankee SS after Jeter?

Do the Yankees trade for their next SS or is there someone in the farm system? That is a very tough question the Yankees are going to ask in the off season or in 2010 when his contract is up. Can he still play every game at ss for two more years? I don't think so. Lets look at whats out there. This years free agents are Orlando Cabrera, David Eckstein, Adam Everett, Rafael Furcal, Christian Guzman, Cesar Izturis, Edgar Renteria, Omar Vizquel. Not much there. Maybe a backup player, but little else.

I have a idea, but I dont know what the Yankees think about it. Robby Cano was a SS in the Yankee system before they moved him to 2nd base. Just a thought. Forget about Arod playing SS. That will never happen as long as Jeter is on the team. There are some great shortstops out there, but teams are not going to trade them unless they have a top prospect coming up. Michael Young of the Rangers would be a great one to get, as would be Hanley Ramirez of the Marlins. The Yankees must make a decision very soon.

Down on the farm the Yankees have a couple options. One option is Carmen Angelini, the 19 year old prospect playing for the Charleston RiverDogs. The 10th round pick in 2007 is hitting at a .240 clip with four homers and 39 RBIs. Questions have been raised about his defense, due to his astonishing 40+ errors. Just remember this......some no name player named Derek Jeter made the same amount, if not more during his minor league career. He turned out to be somewhat decent.

Who Do The Yankees call up September 1st when Rosters go from 25 to 40 players

I see the Yankees calling up at least 10 players. Some of them being Juan Miranda, Alfredo Aceves, Phil Hughes, Francisco Cervelli, Austin Jackson, Ramiro Pena, Chase Wright and Mark Melancon. Other possibilities include Shelley Duncan, Melky Cabrera, Justin Christian, Matt Carson, Ben Broussard, Jason Lane, Eric Duncan and Nick Green.

Who is the Best Manager in all of baseball

In my opinion these are the top 10 managers in MLB.

1- Tony LaRussa: He somehow finds ways to win even with players no one else wants.

2- Mike Scioscia: The Angels are in the playoffs every year and with some young players, it could be the start of another dynasty.

3- Terry Francona: Has turned Boston from "cursed" into one of the model franchises in all of baseball

4- Ron Gardenhire: Always in the playoffs with the $5 payroll.

5- Bobby Cox: He's slipping a little bit but he can still out manage most of the managers in baseball.

6- Jim Leyland: Some may think he's overrated but he helped turned Detroit from a laughing stock into contenders every year.

7- Lou Piniella: In our opinion, a possible Hall of Fame manager. Definitely in if he wins with the Cubs.

8- Joe Torre: Can still get the best out of his players. The best at keeping problems in house.

9- Ozzie Guillen: You may not like his style, but his teams are always a force to be reckoned with.

10- Joe Madden: Earning more and more respect in the league as the days go by.

Lets grade the coaching staff

On a scale of 1-5 1=should be fired.2=poor job,3=avg job,4=good job,5=excellent job. Lets grade the coaching staff and the GM. Cashman gets a 3 mainly because he talked the steinbrenners out of getting Santana. Girardi also gets a 3. He has handled the bullpen well. Bench coach thomson gets a no grade because i really dont know what he does. I never see him talking to a player when he messes up . He gives high fives when someone does a good thing.Dave Eiland the pitching coach if that is what he does gets a 1.I dont know how someone can be a major league pitching coach when he never knew how to pitch when he played for the yankees. he was hired because he worked well with kennedy and hughes in the minors. they have zero wins together, and its the middle of august.Kevin Long gets a 3, just a avg job.Tony Pena at first base gets a no grade because the only reason you have a first base coach is to make sure you didn't forget the signs. Now for 3B coach Bobby Meacham, he gets a 1.How many times do you get someone thrown out at home.

girardi one and done ?

What do you think. Is girardi going to get fired after the season. I think he gets a pass this year because of all the injurys. But in 2009 he will be on a short lease. I hate to pick on girardi, but after last nights game he deserves to be picked on. How do you not start Damon, the leagues top hitter, and Giambi against a pitcher who left hand hitters are hitting 350 against ?Also i have a problem with cashman. how do you only have wilson betemit as a back up infielder. I do not think cashman is a great judge of talent. If i had a 200 million doller budget i could do just as good job as cashman. Lets see what happens when he goes to another team who only has a 100 million or less budget.

Yankees: Sellers, Not Buyers?

I believe that if the yankees fall more than 10 games behind tampa bay and boston by the last week in august they will be sellers not buyers. They are now 8 games behind tampa bay and 5 behind boston in the most important loss column.I can see the yankees dumping Giambi,Sexson,Damon,Bruney, and Rasner.I can see Giambi going to the Twins as there dh for the rest of the year.I believe Damon would have value to the white sox,or florida. The yankees say they are never out of it,but they do not have the starting pitching to run a 10 game winning streak.Come september 1st bring up the kids and see what you have and what you will need for 2009. My list of call ups would be Juan Miranda,1B.Brett Gardner,CF.Mark Melancon,P.Phil Coke,P. Philip Hughes,P if he isn't already there.Francisco Cervelli,C. and the jewel of the farm system, Austin Jackson,CF

Any Ideas?

Thanks for reading.

Joba To The 15 Day DL

As you have probably heard by now, Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain has been placed on the 15 Day DL with rotator cuff tendinitis. What does this mean for the Yankees for the rest of the season? It means they need people to step up. When Phil Hughes comes back, they need him to pitch like the top pitching prospect he was made out to be. When Ian Kennedy pitches against the Angels, while he doesn't need to be dominant, he needs to prove he belongs in the majors against the big boys.

Will Joba be out for the year? Answers by various people seem to vary. Some think he will, some think he won't. There have been rumors circulating that if Joba does come back, it will be in the bullpen as the eighth inning guy that he excelled so well in.

Yankees: Re-tooling for 2009 (For Fun)

Let's be real Yankee fans. Without Matsui, Posada, Wang and now Joba do you think the Yankees can make the playoffs? They have not played consistantly good baseball all year. Maybe they tease you for a week or two but that is it.

Lets start retooling this team for 2009 and the opening of the new stadium . Do you really think the Steinbrenners are going to put a crap team on the field? Tthey have over 70 million dollars coming off the books in the likes of Abreu, Mussina, Pavano, Pettitte and Giambi. Other free agents coming off are Ivan Rodriguez and Richie sexson.

Lets start with the bullpen because they have been the most consistant all year. Bring back Marte, Ramirez, Giese, Robertson and Rivera. Add Mark Melancon and another lefty....... say Jonathan Sanchez from the Giants. You say what about Veras and Bruney? I say trade bait.

Now to the starters. The Yankees have to make a hard decision on Pettitte and Mussina, who are 37 and 40 in age. The Yankees must get younger not older in pitching. I say let them both walk and collect draft picks. That leaves us with Wang and Joba to rebuild our staff. You go hard for CC Sabathia and give him a 5 year contract for 80 to 100 mil. This gives you a staff of Joba, Wang, and Sabathia.

A trade to the Giants for Matt Cain, Johathan Sanchez and Bengie Molina gives you the fifth starter plus your starting catcher. Give the Giants Cano, Melky and Austin Romine and i think the Giants will go for this trade. I know this leaves a hole at 2b and cf. We fill 2b by signing Orlando Hudson.

Now for the biggest trade. We look to Milwaukee for Prince Fielder and Bill Hall and offer Kennedy, Hughes, Marquez and Gardner. Milwaukee I believe will say yes. Fill Hughes' spot from within from the likes of Alfredo Aceves, Alan Horne, Zach McAllister, etc...How about this for a line up....

1. Bill Hall - CF
2. Derek Jeter - SS
3. Alex Rodriguez - 3B
4. Prince Fielder - 1B
5. Xavier Nady - LF
6. Bobby Abreu - RF
7. Hideki Matsui - DH
8. Bengie Molina - C
9. Orlando Hudson - 2B

STARTING PITCHING
1. CC Sabathia
2. Joba Chamberlain
3. Chien-Ming Wang
4. Matt Cain
5. (From Within)

RELIEF PITCHING
6. Dan Giese
7. Jonathan Sanchez
8. Damaso Marte
9. Edwar Ramirez
10. David Robertson
11. Mark Melancon
12. Mariano Rivera

BENCH
C - Jose Molina
IF - David Eckstein
IF - Mark Loretta
OF - Randy Winn

Now, I'm not saying this is what the Yankees should do, but I like to think outside the box.

-Sandy
